I am guilty of being a bit of a squirrel :-)
I love to gather projects and bits of this and that
during the summer.
To keep me busy during the winter,
when the garden sleeps:-)
Well today we had a high of sixty-five
and not a peep of the sun in sight,
So I went into a semi-hibernation,
and dug through the too big pile of linens,
I have acquired at garage sales this year...
(click photos to enlarge)
I washed and ironed the pillowcases..
not too big of a job..
maybe the sun will shine again soon?
I have a big fondness,
for simple white pillowcases with crocheted edging..
A set of four matching cases is a lucky find...
I rarely see more than pairs...
This is a pair of two,
the edging is much deeper...
I love this pretty as can be small sham...
with it's circle of daisies..
white on white embroidery is so crisp...
although...
I do enjoy the cheerfulness of colorful embroidery:-)
There is a pair of the blue,
one was camera shy :-)
But only one of the pink,
which is my favorite...
with it's so soft colors and tattered edges,
it has been used and loved.
Today I am joining ..
Cindy at My Romantic Home
and Claudia at Dippity Road
for Finding Beauty
Come share the fun!
Thanks for joining me on laundry day:-)

Beautiful linens, my mother-in-law made me pillowcases with tatting on the edges as a wedding present many years ago. Have not used them as I am scared to wash them. How do you wash yours?
The Linens are Beautiful, so fresh:) I really love the pink ,so pretty.

I love your vintage linens. I love the pink one. The edging is just like the ones my grandmother used to make. Thanks for sharing.

Your pillowcases are really precious and delicate.I love all what reminds our grandmother's age...all was sweet and lovely...sheets,nightgownes,towels...
They passed hours making all that beautiful things talking and laughing while...I don't think it was a bad life even sometimes I envy them!
Kisses for you
Your linen collection is so pretty and so beautifully displayed in your photos. I don't think I could choose a favorite, they are all exquisite. I love how you sprinkled and scattered the lavender throughout your photos.
Thank you for sharing them with us,
Nancy
I like the pillowcase with the pink on it too Bella - actually I like them all.
Glad I'm not the only one ironing pillowcases with pretty embroidery that can by tricky as it really tests your skill with an iron. :-)
The lavender will give them all a nice scent for sweet dreams.

Hi Bella! what a beautiful post with the whites and lavender! I LOVE vintage cases also. I use them most of the time...unless I have the new Rachel Ashwell pink ones on the bed.
Your blog is always so uplifting.

Dearest Bella,
For me the prettiest of the laces are the white on white. Either crocheted, knitted lace or needle lace. Just can caress them all!
Great images as always and thanks for sharing this passion!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Those old linens are beautiful, aren't they? Most people don't take the trouble to decorate their things like that. And to think a lot of it was done by hand!
Very pretty…I am hosting a CSN Giveaway on my blog. I would love for you to stop by.
I love embroidered linens!! My favorite is the pink one!
Hi Bella,
I love your beautiful pillow cases! I really like the white ones myself, too! And you are right, it's hard to find a pair, much less more than two...
I wish I knew how to tat; my great-grandmother Pelagia did lots of tatting, but for some reason my grandmother never learned it and neither did my mom, but then again, she was ten when her grandmother died. She has a few little bits of tatted lace that great-grandma made, but that's it.
