A couple cold rainy days
have prompted me to get busy
and finish some furniture painting projects...
(click photos to enlarge)
In my process
of going from a heavy Victorian
to a lighter Shabby Victorian
with garden overtones,
I have MUCH painting to do :-)
This small coffee table from the family room was first...
(oops.. I only took one before shot)
I used gloss off to give the old finish a tooth instead of stripping,
it worked really well and was super easy...
I used a paste wax instead of a polyurethane sealer,
that I wasn't so happy with,
it was hard on my lungs and the table still smells horrible...
So here is is all white and bright,
in the family room...
Also a new duck slipcover on the burgundy velvet sofa...
from Bed Bath and Beyond...
I love the way the room is starting to feel so much happier...
Yes...
this is the room I was trying the light green paint swatch in,
I lived with that corner painted for awhile
and am excited to go forward,
hopefully this weekend....
I love how the white paint made the details popped...
The detailed Queen Anne legs are one of my favorite parts of the table...
I am obsessed with silver pieces mixed with white furniture..
I am joining...
at The Shabby Chic Cottage
Come get inspired!
Thanks for visiting me today!

Hi Bella!
I love the table! It looks awesome!
The slipcover is very pretty too. Isn't it amazing how just a few elements that are changed to lighter tones gives a room an entirely different look and feel??
This came out great! I have a shorter glass top coffee table in storage with drop sides. I paid over $700 for it and just wasn't happy with keeping it clean- all the creases draw dust and animal hair so bad. And the fact that it's oak...but I may have the guys dig it out and paint it now.

Hello Sweetie Pie! I love the transformation...and what a wonderful switch over...from the heavier Victorian to the white and shabby look. One of the really great things about it is that the lines are already there in the furniture...and the embellishments and the carvings.
Great job. I have been toying with using paste wax too. What kind did you use that was so awful? I want to avoid that one for sure!
The room is beautiful! Hugs- Diana
Your new look is wonderful Bella! I prefer the table in white and the silver tray with your lace..gloves and roses look lovely! Take care..

Dearest Bella,
You are quite daring to take the Queen out of Anne in order to make it look Shabby & Chic!
The silver with the lace and flowers look very romantic...

LOL! I've said it many times before, and I'll say it again.....a slap of white paint makes everything look better. :) What a beautiful transformation, Bella! It really does make the room look bright and cheerful and much airier. The detailing and your distressing job on it is awesome, girl!
