It was a day of small surprises...
(click photos to enlarge)
the first surprise...
an almost sunny day...
soft fluffy clouds floating by....
I decided today was a good day
for the first tea in the garden this year...
I brought a rosy cup,
and a rose....
the second surprise of the day...
Lilacs!!
While pruning the spent lilac blooms,
these three beauties were tucked up under the eaves,
still perfect!!
Just when I thought it was over :-)
I brought along an old book on garden tools...
to browse...
while I sip...
and wish....
I had a watering can collection
as grand as this!
Today I am joining...

Lovely tea post Bella. Love the colouration in the lilacs. I have a few of your poppies coming up in the garden. V
Lilacs always cause a sigh to escape my lips. They are so lovely...what a wonderful way to enjoy the last of the blooms for this year. Cherry Kay
so pretty!;) Rachel
Lovely summer post...I can just hear the bees buzzing in the lilacs...so peaceful!
Thanks for sharing!
Ruth
Beautiful! I especially love your first picture. I'm so glad you shared your lilacs. We've never had any in our yard until 2 weeks ago, and we planted 8 large shrubs. I can hardly wait 'til next Spring! You've just confirmed that the wait will be worth it!
Lovely lilacs and lovely tea-time.
Glad to have joined you :)

That was nice, Bella---a most lovely post. Susan
How lovely! Lilacs and tea along with that fascinating book ~ I'm in. I wish I had just one vintage watering can. ;-)

Hello Bella,
The garden tea setting is beautiful. I love your chair and that lacy piece, so romantic. The teacup is very lovely, what a cute handle it has.
What a lovely post. So relaxing.

Hi Bella... what a beautiful day for tea in your garden... your chair is so pretty and I love the vintage garden book... your surprise Lilacs are a special treasure... I just love finding hidden blooms!... everything looks just enchanting... xoxo Julie Marie
Oh! So pretty!!! I have that same chair-I must drag it out to the garden now that you have inspired me.
Enjoy your weekend,
Carolyn
Hi Bella
You've set up a romantic looking tea on that adorable chair. Bet you had to keep the dogs inside - every time I bring food out to photograph a little 4 legged guy thinks it's for him. :-)
Judith
Beautiful post - I wish I could grow lilacs, yours are so pretty. Happy Pink Saturday,
Brenda
Oh my gosh, what a girl after my own heart! I absolutely adore your blog! And I love tea parties in the garden as well!

What a lovely tea post. It all looks so romantic and wonderfuyl. Happy pink Saturday
What beautiful lilacs! What variety are they - do you know? You take your tea pretty strong. :)
that was a nice suprise! I have the same book, and a big watering can collection...but not that big! Your table looks so pretty
Your post is a Victorian painting! And you've included one of my favorite books. An unexpected bloom IS a nice surprise! And nice to share your lovely garden! xx
I do believe everything came together just right for you to have your perfect day.
what sweet photos and this is just lovely! Your blog is always such a feast for the eyes and soul! I had my problems today with linky tool and gave up but have a link to you I did myself. Love your book!
Hello Bella,
what a nice post. I am amazed about this wonderful Lilac blossom with white borders. What an outstanding sort of Lilac.
Best greetings, Johanna
What a treat! I can just imagine how lovely they smell. There was a beautiful Lilac bush between mine and my neighbor's gardens when we lived in Ohio - unfortunately Lilacs don't do so well in our heat in Georgia. You've created a lovely tea in the garden - the chair is fantastic, love the rose covered teacup and that looks like a fascinating book! All the right elements for a lovely time in the garden.
Have a great weekend,
Kathy
Beautiful post! I love all the pics.
I love those lilacs ... I've never seen a lilac two toned like that. Gorgeous.
I moved from Eastern Washington to Colorado ... huge difference in gardening ... it is really a challenge here.

So beautiful. Lilacs remind me of my childhood in New Mexico, where they grew in abundance.
So glad I kicked off my shoes, laid back & enjoyed your peaceful, beautiful setting. I adore lilacs.
Have a beautiful PS weekend.
