Or maybe...
I should say, It pays to be nice....
(click photos to enlarge)
I stopped at a garage sale Saturday...
I see this pretty plate and pick it up...
there is a lady on the other side of the table,
she is grabbing pretty dishes off the table
and piling them into a box...
and I think to myself,
I should have gotten here sooner...
then the lady sees me carrying the plate around
and says..
" I have more dishes back here if you want to look"
you know that feeling,
when you are sure everyone wants what you want,
and you try to move slow,
not to draw attention to it... right?
when I get there she says
someone else was trying to get her to sell the teacups
"for a dollar a set" ...
and well,
to keep it brief, she is mad!
I say how much are they?
she says "depends"...
I decide to try to cut it short...
"how much for the box"
she says...... "ten dollars, but don't tell the other lady"
(revenge sale)
who by the way has sent her husband back in
to try to get the dishes...
too late... SOLD!
here are my new pretties...
Love this sweet cup...
spring green ruffles....
I have always wanted a bit of Chintz....
some mixy matchy lusterware....
I love finding pretty china mugs...
and this one is already a favorite,
with it's almost a match saucer...
there were good marks
and there were bad marks...
these two cups,
with their so similar rose pattern...
the top FTD,
the bottom Royal Standard England...
when you look closely,
the Royal Standard does shine,
with her
oh so pretty bowl..
another had this mark...
it is either a really bad reproduction,
or a fantastic mistake!
Either way it's a lot of fun...
so all in all a pretty good group
of pairs...
and a whole pile of mix and match,
which I will completely enjoy!
the possibility of mix match pairing
is endless...
Today I am joining...
and
Thanks for joining me today!

what a great buy..and yes people can be so rude. Reminds me of when I was in paris once, stopped at one of the stalls on the Seine. A little old lady was selling postcards and she was selling them to me at a good price and I was piling them up. Someone came up and butted in, the old lady chased her away! i love it and bought about 100 french postcards from her at a great price!
I AM SOOOOO JEALOUS. I got on ebay today and saw some very similar to these and the prices ranged $22.00 each. You were truly Blessed to get these ALL for only $10.00.
Awesome deal! It PAYS off to be polite! Being rude doesn't make you feel any better, so why do it? Don't get people like that. Last week, at an Estate sale I had a lady trying to look through the stuff that was SOLD that I bought. The Estate Sale people told her that is sold, its all run up and we are waiting for her husband with the car. Ten seconds later the lady, was starting to touch my purchases again... I told her that is sold. (It was pretty apparent it was almost behind the ring up table) She started to touch my things again! My husband, who had been crossing the room, saw the last confrontation with her said, I believe they told you those things are sold. She got all in a huff!!! I won't touch anything anymore, she said... Yes, lady that is the IDEA when something is SOLD. There is a whole house of unsold things. But those things in bags, on the end tables that are stacked because they say SOLD are off limits! Then she wanted the Estate sale worker to discount what she had in her hand... Nothing doing they Estate sale worker wouldn't budge. I think it was because she was RUDE... because I got some really good deals ;)
I was not to be messed with! After all the week before, at another sale, a lady stole one of my bags! I'm always polite, even when we corrected the woman this past week, I tried to do so nicely. :)
Love the dishes! Enjoy your find, politeness pays off :)
So pretty--just look at all those gorgeous flowers on your china. Great buy.
Woowza! What a deal. Those are lovely. I do know that feeling of someone watching you and deciding they need to have what you are holding. Always makes my heart beat faster and sometimes a little dizzy. Over from French Country Cottage.
Oh wow! Lucky you! Those are some sweet teacups you got!~Hugs, Patti
Obviously it always pays to be nice! LOVE that first teacup... I've never seen one quite like that!
